Ohberg Futura replica?

I found this pic I had saved in my files from Jay Ohberg....anybody know what he was doing with this one? It looks like a Futura, but has a Bat rear end, Bat arch and lights on top, yet no wheel cut outs etc. It seems to be half Futura and half Bat?? Is this the Butts replica in Ohberg's hands at one time?? Or another replica??

I saved the pic but don't recall the history behind...

In 1955, a guy from Italy took a 1955 Lincoln and made a concept car called the 1955 Lincoln Futura. He tried to get this car to catch on, but it never did. After it was used in the movie "It started with a Kiss" in 1959, it was sold to George Barris for one dollar. George Barris is a famous custom car maker some of the Batmobile's. Just found a few on evilbay - there seem to be lots of variants, including this one I thought was VERY weird - a "Spider-man" Lincoln Futura. WTF?

I found this on ebay, technically an "item for sale" but I thought I'd post it here since Futura stuff is rare, and I thought it was unique. (Feel free to move the post though!)

Apparently a resin model of the Futura converted to it's state just before Barris made it into the Batmobile. Not a bad job, something you definately don't...

I'm wanted to know, when the steering wheel was turned, did the entire center section remain stationary (the chrome bezel inward), or was it just the portion under "glass" that had the lights and gauges? Thanks.

First Private/Public showing of the Futura

An article found with some information on the debut of the Futura. The Futura was shown to reporters on Jan. 5th 1955,
a private showing in the Congress Hotel, Chicago.
(A couple of new photos here, wish they were better quality!)

Looking at the surroundings of those photos, these were also taken on that day at the Congress Hotel.

I just got off the phone with Stan Thorwaldsen, who was the interior designer of the 1955 Lincoln Futura. We had a great chat talking about the wonderful car that he helped build all those years ago. At 80, his memory is still sharp, too!

Looks like the Futura went from its debut on January 8, 1955(Chicago Auto Show) to the Jan. 23rd St. Louis Auto Show. I wonder how many more appearances early that year?

Hi guys. Here's a kitcar influenced by the Futura's styling. It was based on a Henry J chassis and had a thunderbird windshield. I took these photos in the late '80's in Akron, Ohio. The owner told me that the bodies were built in the Akron area in the '50's or '60's and there was supposedly about 12 made. I don't know if this is true or not, but that's what he told me. What lies underneath is anybody's guess..it appears to be a mixed match of some Ford mixed with Ghia. It was in conversation with Craig Irwin of FF who cemented the idea for me the frame is more Ghia than Galaxie...more Italian influence the Ford. I've certainly never seen a box tube frame rail running down the center of any galaxie frame as the # 1 had. The rear shock towers and the the trunk had mandrel bent and straight round tubing crossmembers yet the front suspension consisted...
