Exclusive info from Round2 regarding their 1/32nd Batmobile model due out in March 2010:

*It uses the original Aurora tool.

*It includes an expanded decal sheet. It will feature the original decals that came with the kit as well as accurately colored bats and stripes.

I'd rather they keep moving the date back, than not telling us anything. There are production delays, that is to be expected. Sometimes they can be predicted and can be reflected in the projected release date. Sometimes they can't. At least they're bothering to keep us informed. To me that says something...

That's the catalog where I got the picture I posted in post #82 of this thread.

They asked that if I shared the image from the catalog I was to mention that the packaging wasn't finalized and would likely change from the image shown. So, be aware of that and don't get your heart set on that as the box.

LMF--if you mean the old Corgi 267, that one is supposedly 1/43. So 1/25 should be a little smaller than double the size of the old Corgi.

the JL pre-painted 1/24 60's comic book batmobile model ought to be a good comparison.

Sorry my info is out of date. Mattel bought Monogram back in 1968, but sold it in 1984. My bad (and perhaps their's as well)

Mattel does not have a model division that I know of.They dont produce model kits.

The packaging hasn't been finalized. It's still subject to change. This is the same thing that was posted earlier, but bigger and clearer.

Keep in mind that when the Danbury Mint finally put out a batmobile, so did Polar Lights and Corgi in the same scale. Polar Lights did both a metal and plastic kit. In addition, DC Direct had their own model. Mattel had an opportunity to make a kit from their model division - heck they already had the scans - but that was a deal with Hot Wheels division. So Mattel blows it and opens the door for Polar Lights!

Mattel would hold a master licence,but it would not preclude other manufacturers from producing the Barris Batmobile in other mediums,i.e: plastic kits,pre-painted resin statues under a sub licence.Mattel and Round 2 are not connected.

I could be wrong, but I'm not sure Mattel ever had an exclusive on obtaining a license to make 66 batmobile stuff. They were just the first in a long time to be able to get it worked out, but DC Direct also put out the ceramic light-up version a while back. I don't think Mattel had anything to do with that version. I also don't know if Mattel has any connection with PL/Round 2. If not, I'd imagine that other companies can benefit from Mattel's legwork in...

I'm no lawyer but how is this possible? I thought Mattel/HW had "the license" - does that not preclude other companies from bringing out 1966 Barris Batmobiles? I could understand if it was a reissue it could be sidestepped, but a new kit? Please explain...

(I'm not complaining, I plan to pick one up too! Yippee!)
