I would love to go back to the shop. As you mentioned on the phone this could be a blast--for a small fee, board members would:
have an exclusive Q & A with George (probably in the room with the RTTBC car?) opportunity to take pics of the #1 have their picture taken in the #1 comraderie among the Batmobile fans autographed pictures? no snacks, though--too many pretty cars and too much of a chance of a spill! For those that need a break, there is a coffee shop across the street called The Coffee Bean. Don? Chris W? Anthony? Paul? Andrew? |

Well,
I've been there-------just not inside. I've seen GB several times--------Klassix Auto Auction where he signed his business card and gave it to me. SEMA 2006 Cavalcade of Customs ("World of Wheels")2007. He signed pics of MY car and gave me a great personalized Barris Crest plaque etc. Even still, it might be a neat short get away from the winter doldroms particularly to see/visit the board types who might attend. As for food, I agree NOT having food is wise. What's this FEE all about? We're the ones who kept the '66 ALIVE!  Throw in a '66 test drive on a blocked-off city street. YEAH BABY (ok so that's a stretch).
It's really not that much of a "pilgrimage", but maybe for those coming the furthest we can coordinate a trip to Bronson Canyon before or after the intended visit. I have to admit to be there in person was an unexpected surprise. Now if we can just get NATE or TOM to zip us around taxi-style since we're in their fair state. Maybe a Bat-photo opp near the cave?? Oooooooohhhhhhh Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhh................ Eric!? |

Chris, a photo op of the batmobile board members outside the cave sounds great.

I stayed at the Beverly Garland Holiday Inn, as recommended by Eric Seltzer. It was a bit pricey ($150ish per night) compared to back home, but it
was a good price for hotels in the Universal Studios area, was very nice, and...less than a mile from Barris' shop.
Perhaps we could arrange a group rate if enough book to the same hotel? Perhaps a suite for one of us to host a Bat gathering? PS: Frank Gorshin used to live there, on the third floor of the bigger building! |

ok.on the last week in Feb..But i can change as long as its later...getting in on Fri 10:30am leaving Sun and Def. a trip to the Cave..round trip from Albany

Hi Chris.
I can't speak for the others, but I'd prefer to arrive on a Thursday or Friday & return home on Sunday. Altho' whatever the masses prefer, I am certainly open to. This decision probably has more to do with GB than myself. Let's do this to assist Eric. If you're among those who are interested, reply to this message with your name, # of people in your party (if more than just yourself) and your preferred travel dates. Chris your dates have us there on a Wed. and returning on a Friday correct? I don't know if a weekday or weekend (Sat.) bodes well for GB or not, so that's probably what will have to be the deciding factor for most of us since he's accomodating us? After the replies, we can decide on a date to run past GB and a headcount etc. Don C. I'm expecting you to be there boyeeee
