Apologies if this is in the wrong area but as a long time reader of this site I thought this may be of interest.
When the Batman TV show invaded the screens over here in the UK in 1966 I was hooked..I was 8 and was familiar with Batman comics and the film serial was a regular at my local cinema but the TV series was a revelation..not in colour (sorry color) but in my mind it was and the cliff hanger aspect of it made Sunday visits to Grandparents a necessary evil..but enough preamble..
Every year in Birmingham an event called The Boys and Girls exhibition was held..various exhibits intended to educate and expand the minds of the children of the English Midlands were on display and in 1967 (I think) they had "direct from America"..The Batmobile!..imagine my excitement as I finally got to be in the presence of the greatest car the colonies had ever produced..imagine my disappoinment whan I gradually came to realise that the "Batmobile" was no more than a Ford Consul (at best) made up to look faintly like the great car..I don't know what gave it away..the Batman sign on the door perhaps..it was just rubbish.
I'm going to visit the local newspaper archives at some point to see if their was any press coverage and to see if my memories are as bad as I think and perhaps pictures.
Would this count as an official replica though?

..it
certainly looks bad enough to be..if the Bat insignia on the doors has Batman and Robin written on them then their is a very good chance it is..I couldn't
understand why they would need their names on the doors..they would have known where to sit..it just shouted FAKE! at me .
