Don't get me wrong, they certainly don't have to let anybody sit in it, I am ok with that, but to start and then stop?? And wasn't one of the selling points of this trip being able to have your pic IN the car? Not complaining mind you--just really confused! I could imagine great disappointment if I DID go and wasn't able to get a pic in the #1.

Posts: 1234 (03/03/09 9:50 AM) Reply Quote More My Recent Posts Message Me Connection Blocking Invite Ignore User's Posts Report Post	Considering the poor overall condition of the # 1, I too am a bit amazed that GB would be reluctant to allow people to be in the car as there's not much anyone can do to hurt it etc. Playing the Devil's advocate, who else of all the BAT lovers tho' might be tempted to steal this knob or that detail from it? I'd say that since the # 1 had cars parked on both sides of it and the crowd was larger than anticipated, I think they just decided it best NOT to allow all the visiting traffic in the car. Tony opened the door for one person to get a photo and 2 or 3 others took the opportunity to do the same until someone realized or heard the slamming of doors etc. I perfectly understand being guarded about one of the most valuable cars in the world I think everyone got their fair share of photos by it too. No harm no foul with me.

Posts: 322 (03/03/09 6:26 PM) Reply Quote More My Recent Posts Message Me Connection Blocking Invite Ignore User's Posts Report Post	They never allowed it from the start ,,the picture of me in the car was arranged with them ..and happened with none of the group their ..other they that ..the car is in very poor shape they had to keep shaking the door nob to get it opened every thing is hanging and taped and glued together ,,but thats what puts it apart from the replica's ..their was one guy their ( i did know him) that opened the door and then closed it ,,but the door just clicked the first lock so he opened it again and slamed it but still it didnt lock so he again opened it and for a 3ed time slamed it ,,,i was like just leave it alone man but i didnt say it ,,thats when i saw Jodi come out Last Edited By: chrisla213 03/04/09 5:31 AM. Thanks everyone for clarification on sitting in the car. It's too bad it wasn't allowed (and properly monitored) because sitting in THE #1 is unlike any replica hands down. Although I haven't sat in Tom Woodruff's replica yet!! I 100% understand though if George and company didn't want to allow it too, I'm often surprised that replica owners allow it as much as they do, it really can take an unexpected toll on a vehicle to have lots of strangers in and out of such a car.

Scott S, I would have liked to meet you in person, but couldn't make it. It would have been interesting to have you meet the guy that sometimes is a bit of a PITA over on your site (but my dog loves me). I keep my horse saddled and my lance sharpened to always be ready to go after those "windmills" (causes I believe in). Hi-Ho-Fleabasket!

Along with all the great info, did anyone get a chance to do some more "detective work"??? Wheel base measurements? Are the original arch and console buried under the coverings of the current arch and console? What happened to the dash lights? I apologize if this was covered in the DVD, I haven't had the pleasure of seeing it...... yet! Kudos to George and team for the nice hospitality they treated you all to and I hope there will be other events like this to come...
