Dan, I for one never grow tired of reading your posts. I, too, think that you should buckle down and build a Bat. After all of these years, and with all of that passion--go for it!

Paul,
Now I have a better understanding of your dash mechanicals.....Seeing the components makes so much more sense to me now. Your plan looks like a really good one. The steeriing wheel is looking great too. You can never provide too many photos. Keep 'em coming. Thanks, Zach |

Tribute to the Number 1.... | ||

Thanks Guys, I'm confident that you guys will end up in the TOP FIVE best builds when you're done as well.
As you know, it's a huge undertaking and there will always be some taking it to new improved levels. Like you, I'm happy to be part of the evolution and inspiration. I appreciate this car more and more every day; the design and it's details are magical. I'm excited for the boys visiting with Barris and the Number 1 today, but can't help feeling sad about what awful condition this icon has been in for so long. Car should be in a Museum not a Circus!!! Thank goodness for builders that truly build "Tribute cars"! |

How did you fab your door trim parts?
Did you use multiple strips of steel, hold to shape and weld together at the peak type deal? |

Yes
I made a template out of cardboard then cut the steel 14Ga Welded and shaped then off to the chrome shop Andrew |

Looks great.
My son will be 4 in July, but he'd LOVE that if those babies got mass produced--------who's kid wouldn't?. I tried to find one of those Crime Crusher (Batmobile) Pedal cars at one point to no avail. Your treatment of that body will look great suspended from any garage wall. By the way, GREAT colors too!

That really turned out cool! Is that a fully functional pedal car for the lad to drive, or a static display item?
Imagine having that when WE were kids watching the TV show! |

Hey Looks great! I had the winshields painted silver so they looked more like windows, but I like the all black too! My daughter's car was in a movie
after many upgrades first by me, then a second guy that the new owner hired.
I pods, smoke machines working confetti Rockets, fake flame, even a laser from Sammy! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nBRoGduSv9A Check out the history of these little cars at http://groups.yahoo.com/group/batmobilepedalcar/ you have to join up, but I had molds made, and they are still out there. My daughter had a lot of fun with the car, but she outgrew it, and the dad/producer of little batman never gave up, he wanted my batmobile! He wants to put it in a children's museum... that would be cool!
Great job on the thruster and chute packs, those look great! I though i was going to sell a ton of these, but I turned out about 16 or so bodies, and then sold the molds. Post any baby bat photos you have on the yahoo site, and anything on how to make the work for the other guys who are behind you ,and can;t figure it out! |

It's a decent mold and I would like to know more about it's origin. I bought this particular body from Scooter a few years back (maybe he could chime
in?)
The shell looked as if it was fairly old, but it could have looked that way from being left out in a yard for a couple of years or so?!? It was just a shell and did not look as if it had ever been used for a ride or pedal car.
You're right about the windows, they would probably look better silver and I may do that when I pick it up again. The thing is going to be a static display in my garage, so I didn't bother with a functional chassis or a full blown electric chassis. I'm still trying to figure out where and how to display the darn thing. I also have an old coin operated ride that I need to display as well. I thought about building a showcase around the mini Bat and sitting the Coin operated ride atop the showcase to somehow stack the two and take up less room. I originally planned on hanging them vertically on a wall or suspending them from the ceiling (but that creates a whole new set of logistical problems).
Right now, I'm looking forward to the Big Bat making up for all those min rides we missed!!!
Thanks for the comments guys.... |
