What a Great Time... | ||

It was terrific to catch up with "old" friends. At the Batcave, Scott Sebring led us on a marvelous tour:
Where we met many new friends:
It was interesting to compare a screen capture of the cave from 1965 to today:
The Fiberglass Freaks were well-represented. Bodyman Darvin, Jeff, me, webmaster Chuck, and bodyman Craig were on hand:
The view from inside the Batcave is rather deceiving--the cave is only ten feet wide! But how beautifully it frames this picture:
Dave liked the view better from above:
Someone was requesting photos of the N's on the compass earlier, so I didn't forget you:
Here is the rear half of the arch, resting on top of the rear windshield glass:
I don't remember seeing anyone post this view of the front driver grille opening from the top:
A view down one of those four perplexing tubes in the trunk (see the Don's thread in the Futura forum for Eric's recent find!):
The ever-busy Eric takes a photo of Tom's car:
Even George Barris was taking pictures of Tom's car!
How proud Tom must be, and rightfully so!
Tom looks like a movie star in his beautiful Batmobile:
By the way, Tom is a movie star--he's been the HR Giger Alien in many movies! Many thanks again to Chris D, Eric S, Scott S, and of course to George, Joji, Brett, Tony, and the other Barris staff that hosted the event. Next up--some measurements that we have always wanted. Stay tuned: Same Bat Time, Same Bat Channel! |

So...not that he had to either....but did Tom let anyone sit in his car and get their pic taken?
Again I don't have a problem if the Bat owners did NOT want folks in their cars.....just would seem a real shame to attend such an event with the potential for 3 Batmobiles (more if Nate brought his too, and the #4 came down!!) and not get your pic IN a Batmobile?!?!?! Great additional pics Mark! don't forget the "HOLLYWOOD" sign out the back of the batcave, that was a surprise to me the first time I saw it and realized how close it was to the cave! |

Thanks for those awesome pics Mark. Is there a thread dedicated to Tom's car? It looks awesome and I'd like to know more! One of the best replicas
I've seen! If GB ever decides to restore the #1 to 'screen accurate' at least he has some good, recent reference photos now. LOL.

If they still have all those Futura conversion pics...
|
...I betcha they have plenty of reference pics from the series too.

More fun than I thought!

Thought I'd offer my take on the Barris visit. I was looking forward to a wonderful time, but the event was better than I expected. How often does
that happen? I'm not sure about the rest of you, but it's rare that I can find someone willing to talk for more than10 minutes about building a
Batmobile. No problem at this event, and most knew more about it than me! That alone was worth it. Add to that the Bat cave visit, lunch at Bob's Big
Boy, the Barris visit, and perfect weather...great way to build a memory.

I'm going to take a Robin guess, and say that Eric Estrada is the Rev. Tea Cup! If I've got the glues wrong, maybe Batman can figure it out! Thats a
qoute from BurtWard in the second part of Hi Diddle Riddle. U-no when Batman rescues him from the Riddler. Kinda? Anyway if I'm wrong- or- right... Will we
ever know?
