Considering that 38% of us thought the car was going to sell for $120k, I think it was great to see that car go for $150k. In my opinion, Dennis' car far outperformed expectations. I think the price shows the resilience of the Bat market, that even in economic down times these cars still fetch well over $100k.

Chris and Mark make good points....The market is flat yet these cars are getting serious money. Collectors at BJ generally buy for love of the car but the
investment also plays a large part. I am sure that the purchaser of the bat today expects to see a gain at some point. I could not tell how many bidders there
were but it seemed like there were a few.
I felt very good about the auction price today and based on what Speed said, the car was very nice. I immediately told my wife the final price which only served to better my own investment cause. LOL I wonder what the autographs added in value....Not much to me, but that's just my opinion. Zach |

Auctions are a funky thing. There is no way to predict the outcome of any particular auction. All you can do is take an average, list a reserve (if they allow it), and pray for at least two bidders that just have to own the car today. |

Investments perhaps but I have found all of my customers buy my builds for the 'magic' the Batmobile gives, the chance of reliving your youth in a way
that wasn't possible when you were a kid. I haven't ever had the need to run any of my cars through an auction to sell them. The one or two times thay
do exchange hands privately they do quite well without all the 'Hoopla'
In retrospect I'm sure there are far more buyers who can pay the $$$ for the right build than there will ever be Batmobile replicas available.

I was there too..I have video, kinda behind the scenes stuff..but was quite nervous on the auction price since i have one too. Would of been tough to see it
go fir 100,000 like it was holding on the price for a long time during the bidding..

So as of right now the average price is $148,000. I know it depends on who is there that day but I also wonder how much of the variable is the over all build?

The car that sold for $216k at R&M had far less features than the car that sold for $185,000 at Barrett-Jackson: no working flame out the rocket exhaust tube; non-working dashboard doors; no detail in the steering wheel hub; and Mustang seats instead of Futura seats. Why did it sell for more than the car with twice as many features? Luck of the draw regarding bidders. That's it. |

I just wanted to point out that the car going for $150,000 as opposed to the prior year's $185,000 is not a reflection of the overall value or demand for
the Batmobile but a result and reflection of the economy. The overall auction was down compared to last year. Considering one of the top profiled cars
estimated and valued to go for at least $1,000,000 only went for $200,000, I think it's amazing that the Batmobile pulled in at least $150,000 (compared to
estimates here). Everything practically came in under estimates and the bidding was so soft in general that the auction went very quick and we were on the
block over an hour early because of the the lack of serious competitive bidding on earlier cars. Auctions are a funny thing and it does help if you have at
least two serious Batfans with the pockets to back it up.
All in all, I'd say the team was quite pleased with the $150,000 mark this year.

KGB, great film work. It was nice seeing you again, I just wish we had more time to chat. Next year Im not going to be as nerves at Barrett Jackson. Alot of people lost a great deal of money out there this year, I kept hearing horror storys from a lot of people. I don't think next year is going to be much better. My thing is be into your car right and you should make money by the end of the night. It was great working with Scott S and Yvonne Craig and her sister again, there such nice people. |
