Marke's Batmobile |
Lead | |
|
My name is Marke, Ive been a batman/batmobile fans since the 60,s and a Mad max fan since the 80's, ive made a few mad max replica cars (including the
black interceptor, movie correct version) and got great joy from fans and made new friends from it, over the past 2 and half years ive been building a 66
batmobile tribute car from an ozy coupe, it is not movie correct, its as close as i could get it using the base car i bought, but it will be street legal to
take out on our roads here in oz.

Welcome Aboard! | ||
|
(Everyone must be outside doing a cookout this week)
Welcome aboard, and good luck on your 66 build. Out of curiousity, will it have a left or right hand steering wheel? Pictures when you can, please--it's always fun to see a new build. If you have an questions about the #1 car, or replica building, just ask under the "Tips" header. |

yes it is right hand drive , it was made from a valiant convertable, 1969 model, they was dodge dart bodies in the states and sent here and redone as valiants
, it wheel base is 114 inch as its not to scale but still big enough.a few pics in my gallery folder.

Hi Marke-
Welcome to the board. Just looked at pics of your car and it brought a smile to my face--you've done lots of work. Give us more details, was the body work done with fiberglass, wood, filler, etc, etc?
I will move this thread to the Your Replica section. Eric |

I used 16mm round bar as a skeleton frame over the base car( cut sections of base car away where needed) layed up glass on flat malimite and pulled it off then
cut all glass panels out layed them over my frame and reglassed over top, sanded ,sanded ,sanded, and body filled then sanded, (way to much sanding and shaping
by hand), 2 and a half years lare its now up to the paint stage over the next 4-5 weeks it should start to look the way i pictured, cant belive how many bat
replica builders out there, i see most are of kits and few a made the way i did mine, I wanted to buy a Kit from the states and put on a town car here in NSW
in OZ , but i would not had been able to have it street legal here (had to have had to have base car pre 1969,and the windscreen from the kits didnt comply
over here with our ADR (Australian Design regulations) rules, and why have it if you cant drive it.so hence me doing this version so it will comply with ADR
's .your replica's are unreal.

Hi, I live in a little town on the east coast of Australia. (buff Point) if you look on the map right between Sydney (2 hours north) and Newcastle. great part
of our world, lookin forward to have the tribute car( Iwont call it a replica ,as its not movie correct) finished . i'd say in 7-8 weeks away, should
turn a few local heads, is anyone else on here from Oz that is building or driving a bat replica that you guys know of.

Try a refresher course...
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Are there images you want to post to the board, or an Avatar, but do not have a "host" for the image(s)? Well there is a FREE and QUICK way to host all your images. Click Here for ImageShack DIRECTIONS 1. Click the "Browse" button and find the image on your computer you would like to upload to the board. 2. Once you selected the image click the "start upload!" button on Imageshack. 3. Next, at the top of the page choose "Direct link to image" and copy the entire address. Example: http://img200.imageshack.us/img200/5364/143tm.jpg Then go back to the Message Board and click "Reply" or "New Topic" depending on if you want to reply to a post or start a new thread. Click on the black & white image that looks like a mountain and a sun (If you hover over it, it says "Insert Image"). Click on the blue button that says "ADD FROM URL." Paste the URL/address within there (make sure you do not duplicate the "http://" part that is already there in grey, otherwise it will not work). Viola the image will now appear on your post. Good luck! Eric
