With GM sponsorship down and some of the other proto-type cars slated for attendance being cut pulled due to financial constraints during hard times I was invited by the show Chairman to bring my Pontiac based Batmobile replica to help fill the void. As a Pontiac lover (clearly), I agreed to donate the display of my car for all who might enjoy it. And, it garnered some attention by the Pontiac afficianado types. It was fun because SO many people were mistakenly under the impression that the Batmobile styling cues were Pontiac based so by having my replica there it sort of "confirmed the myth".

This years honored marque is Bugatti. I'm told the Batmobile will be prominently displayed so I look forward to meeting anyone who can make it. I'll be sure to get great photos from this beautiful looking sunny weekend.

Most Concours shows do not have a class for any Batmobile, let alone my replica---------since it's in a class of its own! The beauty for me, other than the weather, was the phenomenal cars in attendance at a historical race grounds where the track dirt is literally sacred. No one touches the track dirt except horses & jockeys. So, they have a 50 yard underground tunnel to facilitate traffic to the manicured infield area for all the displays. Ralph Lauren was personally in attendance, fashionably attired ascot and all. He had a posse with him that reaked of fashion and dollars....... I met Keith Austin who is the actor starring in the Disney (?) movie Secretariat for filming that started today. He introduced me to some other Hollywood familiar faces, but since they didn't have cars at the show, I don't recall their names. I had a great time and as the following pictures will attest, there were some beautiful rides. For the first time ever, I agreed to drop my car off the night before to be left outside (OUTSIDE!!!!!) under car cover to be ready for the early AM opening ceremonies. Scary yes, but it all worked out fine under a highly secure perimeter: This is the early morning view as the day began: This is the Best of Show Bugatti. 1.6M car owned by Ralph Lauren. Something I hadn't heard-------if its true----is that Carl Casper apparently resides somewhere in Kentucky in the Louisville vicinity and HE reportedly has a Batmobile? No idea which one might be his if he has one, but at least 2 people confirmed seeing it personally OUTSIDE of his shop? I half-wonder who bought the Klassix replica at the time? No shortage of folk-tales about other people's experiences in seeing the Batmobile. All things we had already heard before, but I'm surprised for ALL the lovers of this otherwise iconic vehicle that so few have photos of the experience! I ask every time to try to get more photos for this board. I do have a good sized offer on the car from this show.................we'll see where that leads

One of the nicest compliments I had in the morning was words to the effect of "I've seen a bunch of shows, but THIS car at this show made my year". Everyone seemed to stop to chat about the Bat and were grinning ear to ear. But, since I was not in a judged class, they were busy about the Bugatti's and the fashion show etc. etc. Many came by a 2nd time to get photos they didn't snap the first time. I"m sure some photos will turn up somewhere. Thanks, Steve & Chris & Don!

The weather was unseasonably mild this year, so I surprised everyone by driving my Bat to the school and putting the candy in the afterburner since most of the little ones were unable to reach up/over the trunk. They were rewarded later with some Halloween Exihibition BAT style:

I also handed out glossy 6x8 photos for the BIG kids (adults) who wanted them. End result: MILES OF SMILES!
