Well , it's finally come time to get the car on a truck and send it to Florida. The place I hired showed up a day later than planned due to delays with other customers pick-ups or deliveries. Then yesterday afternoon while I'm driving to work and waiting for the call that MYBATCAR was loaded and ready to hit the road that phone call did come .....with bad news!! The car was TOO TALL for the truck! I would have thought too WIDE , but never too tall . The truck apparantly did not allow clearance by about 1 1/2 inches. Well, once again it's another holiday weekend, and it's not easy to find trucks in location , so it will be several more days of waiting, but that beats ruining 4 tires by letting out the air to lower the car. A new shipper is getting set up , and hopefully they can pick-up the car Monday or Tuesday......stay tuned !

Trying to get shipping set up around these holidays and the upcoming Barret Jackson Auction in Scottsdale is a royal pain in the @$$ !! Nothing but more delays ... I started vacation today, the weather is great, I want my car HERE and I want to DRIVE it !! UGH

Well, the first truck company couldnt fit the car onto their truck....that was last week.
The latest carrier was supposed to pick up the car yesterday and didnt show up. Then , they were supposed to go and get it this morning between 9am and 12 noon....and THAT never happened! I was just told this evening that the truck will pick it up tomorrow Thursday morning at 7am PST. Looks like it wont make it here on-time to drive it to the Fort Lauderdale Kruse Auction this weekend................UGH |

After missed appointments on Tuesday and Wednesday, and last weeks shipper with the truck that was too small, mybatcar was finally loaded up today and 'on the road' to Florida. "On the road again......"

Hey all ,
It's Saturday January 14th , 8:30 in the morning here in Florida. During the night we had thunderstorms move thru here and this morning is clear, crisp and cool, the perfect weather for a ride in a Batmobile . But where is my car ???? I'ts been on a truck for 9 days now, and I have yet to hear from the driver. Several days ago I left a message on his cell phone. I'm told he should show up today ......the car has been finished for several weeks, I'm on vacation with only a few days left till I go back to work, and I cant believe I'm STILL waiting for my car.....UGH |

Thanks MV, You would think I've learned patience from waiting a year and a half for this project to go from start to finish. But after seeing the nearly finished product on Dec 22nd , then having a couple shipping fiascos around the holidays, these past 9 days have been the longest and most aggravating wait of them all. I'm using up precious vacation days which I scheduled almost a year ago. I tried as hard as I could to be sure the car would be here for this time of years Florida driving AND my vacation. My brother flew in from Fairbanks on HIS vacation last Tuesday, and HE TOO is playin this waiting game. He's here to take LOTS of pics, and I mean LOTS....all we need now is the CAR !!!
And it is already past 12 noon with no word from the driver so I just gave him a call and he will NOT be making it here today....some sort or earlier truck problem and now the wind is blowing very hard and is difficult to drive the truck. SO , The car will NOT make it here for my birthday today and I'm HOPING it DOES make it here tomorrow day 10 !! More vacation wasted !!!!!!!! |

My car took a solid 8 days to get to Ohio from CA.
You're further south so 10 or so might be closer to the point assuming there are no other pickups/drop-off's between here and there? If you want to e-mail your shipper's # to me off board to see if he might be screening his calls for any reason let me know. Looking forward to your posts both good and bad. |

After reading these shipping nightmares....!!
Maybe it's just me, but I would never have even considered having a company haul my car. I would have either driven out or flown, and then rented a truck and enclosed trailer and drove it back with a buddy or the wife myself, that would be part of the fun, plus I don't trust shippers/movers much anyhow. No matter though, the frustration for you must be unimaginable, I hope it shows up before you finish reading this post!!

Great idea but the '66 is about 7ft wide and 19ft long.
Doesn't fit inside most carriers and some car trailers etc. without a loading dock or HUGE ramp. My car took a week (8 days). Suggest you consider Inter City Transport. |

 Greg from Toronto Canada here...Hi there..just got back from South Florida and I didn't see any batmobiles from Jupiter to South Beach..came back through Tupelo Miss..and visted Memphis..Elvis didn't have a batmobile in his collection..but I see you will soon have yours....Wow she looks pretty fine..except for the touch ups and things to be done that you mentioned. Next time I drive down to Florida...I must get your address so I can see her..I have been anxious to see one of Mark's cars..but haven't had a chance. I go to Jupiter twice or three times a year. The long wait will be over and you will have your dream wheels soon.. I really enjoyed this thread...a fantasy becomes a reality! All the best, Greg from TO |

Greetings all ,
I have been very busy since the delivery of my car , which by the way came on Sunday evening just before sunset. I have some great pics of it geting unloaded ( only inches to spare on the left side and about a 1/2 inch on the right side...what a nervous thing to assist. I've been driving it......taking it to a shop....having every backyard mechanic that sees it stop for a closer look, and just tons of gawkers at every single stop. It's gonna take me a couple more days to get a write-up done here and add some photos, but right now I'm tired, and ready to pop open a beer and watch a movie. The other owners will know what I mean when I say it's not easy to drive around in one of these things, and it can get downright exhausting when you do a full day ....and another day in the hot sun! Sorry you just missed it Greg |
