Steve,
is that area with the palm trees and crowd shot Boca Raton? |

Boca Raton | ||

Yeah Don......it's a spot that has shops, restaurants and outdoor cafe's, theater, a bandshell type pavillion for live music, and an art museum.
During the winter season the valet parking area gets crowded with Bentleys, Lambos, and Ferraris. Great place to people watch and car watch too ! Summer is
hot here but less crowded, and It's always a great place to cruise on a nice evening, and in this particular case I got a parking spot close to the
Starbucks. By the time I returned to the car no-one knows who the owner is so I get to blend in with the crowd and they think I'm just another guy
shooting pics of the car .........( little do they know until I hop in and take off )

Due to the urging of a buddy of mine, we waxed the Batmobile , starting at 7:30 this morning . I wasnt too thrilled with the early morning wake-up but the car
sure looks good and I'm happy I was talked into it !
First wax job in over 2 1/2 years !! |

Cruising | ||
|
Hey Drew........ yeah it wont be too much longer before the cooler dry weather returns....and I can hardly wait ! I was at the beach today...in the Lexus, my
brother has been here for a visit this past week and we have taken the car out a few times and got some new pictures. It's been pretty hot so we've
been going to the beach to swim rather than drive the bat in the heat . I'll post the new pics when I get them loaded from his camera into my computer.
The car was very sluggish on the drive home this evening.....acted like it wanted to die when accelerating, and I'm thinking it might be a dirty fuel filter or carb......or both. I'll have to check that in the daytime weather permitting. |

Hi Steve........Yes, I would imagine it would be pretty hot in the Bat these days, WOW! ........Just wondering, I know you don't drive the car too much in
the summer time and was wondering if your problem might be a condensation build up in your gas tank. I had the exact same problem with one of my Corvettes from
sitting and not being used, The car sat for a while with about a half a tank of gas and when I started it it ran terrible, I went and filled it up and it was
fine.........Now I keep it filled all the time and I haven't had that problem since with either car. You can also try a bottle of Dry Gas from the auto
parts store.....Good Luck sorting out the problem......Drew

BatCarb the Villain here ?? | ||
|
After the car was originally delivered in 2006 and this problem came up I had the fuel pump replaced and it seemd to run great until recently. Cleaning the
carb with spray seemed to work , but was not permanent. I had the pump replaced again but the problem still persisted, so, I removed the carb and took it to
the shop to get it opened up. They can check the jets, pins, floats and whatever else may be the problem and hopefully that fixes the acceleration problem.
Good weather is finally arriving here so it will be nice to have the car running good for the upcoming season.

Steve;
Does it still have a catalytic converter? When you said during acceleration made me think of what my car is doing right now and it needs a new one. I've had it happen with a few different vehicles. The more plugged it gets the worse acceleration is, especially from a stop. Just a thought... Hope you get it fixed.

Steve, have you checked your fuel filter? We had so much crud in one car from the old Lincoln fuel line that we decided from there on out to replace all
fuel lines with brand new ones whether they needed them or not. We had to replace the fuel filter twice on that car! Anyway, it's a thought.

Thanks for the advise.....a USB connection would be much better.....I'll have to look into that when he visits next.
As for the fuel filter, it's glass , and I can see thru it very easily, only a small amount of material in there , and I also removed it and can blow through it easily. I'll probably pick up the carb today or tomorrow and once I get it back on the car I'll have a better idea of where the problem lies.....a minor inconvenience to fix before Halloween ! |

Hey Steve! Just thought I'd throw in my 2 cents on yourengine troubles. I'm not sure if your car was built on a Lincoln or not, but there is a chronic
problem with these cars called VAPOR LOCK. My '66 Continental is going thru the same problem, and my mechanic urged me to get an original rebuilt 3 port
fuel pump replacement. Hope this helps!

Acceleration prob | ||
|
Hey Matt,
I had the fuel pump replaced 2 1/2 years ago with an electric pump and the tank removed and drained when this problem came about right after delivery, and it seemd to take care of the problem until now. So, I just had that fuel pump replaced with another new electric pump last week but the problem persists. I removed the carb and took it to the shop but my guy there couldnt see anything abnormal ao I took it home and re-attached it....it ran fine for one drive , and the next time out the problem came back......sluggish....no acceleration.....and smell of fuel....( drives like an overheating car ). It still seems like a carb problem to me, but perhaps it's ignition, ....distributor ? Oh well , it rained on Halloween so I couldnt drive even if I wanted to, but I'll get this sorted out soon enough, the good weather is gettin here and I want to start driving. |

Steve,
I've been there man. Buy a cheap-o-carb from autozone and see if that fixes it. Sounds to me like the carb needs to be rebuilt. |

Runnin good | ||

We had some really nice cool and clear weather blow thru here last night and now the daytime high is only going to hit 70.....and mid 70s the rest of the
week.....so I took the car out this morning and it was running great. Last week I replaced a few feet of fuel line and replaced the fuel filter. It seems (
and I'm hoping ) this is the problem I was having , that some air was getting sucked in around a clamp at the line to the filter. Under demand air was
getting in.....and at times some fuel would leak, hence the smell of fuel. The days are so short I'm sure I wont be driving it much after the
football games are over today , but I'll probably get it out again this week with this beautiful weather.....and the lower fuel prices also help !!!!
Paid 2.12 yesterday for regular in my other car !
