I thought I saw a slight curve to the top of your molding as well. Thanks for the photos and sketches. I am planning a similar method for the canopy brackets and ledge. After looking at the recent pics I was real sorry I hadn't. From the steering wheel bezel to the seats to the canopy trim...very impressive & nice progress. I'll have to keep checking back now!

I know some replica builders prefer one color over the other also, which effect are you shooting for with yours?

Posts: 506 (10/27/09 6:27 AM) Reply Quote More My Recent Posts Message Me Connection Blocking Invite Ignore User's Posts Report Post	I originally did not believe that the #1 sported a fluorescent red stripe color and was leaning towards the "Daytona Torch Red" for my Bat. The Torch Red just seemed like a perfect match to what I had seen to date; unfortunately....what I had seen was limited to movie footage and photgraphs and it wasn't until the guys on this Board made the trip to visit the number one where it was confirmed that the stripe color was indeed fluorescent red! Sooooooo, while I'm not a real fan of the florescent red stripe color in person, it does photograph as the #1 traditionally has and I love the chamelion nature of it's shades when captured on film. Fluorescent Red it is!

I would like to say Paul,s build is killer. Don't know if this my help when it comes to your rims. My dad was a car builder in the 50's &60's . They used to put chrome trim rings on there raider rims. Once again one of the best builds i have seen. Hope to be doing a build of my own soon.

Finally..... some finish paint on door jams and frames... I decided to use a single stage urethane paint for the interior and will use base-coat/clear for the exterior (just personal preference regarding finished look) Next, hang the doors and shoot the stripe colors

I only wish there was a way to mass produce (10-20 really) this incredible wheel in an economical way for more of us to enjoy. I personally have 100 hours of work invested so far and that doesn't include material costs, laser cuts, polishing and chroming! ....and, that's just the hub! As they say....."no pain, no gain"...

But it didn't take long to realize how many hours and/or costs would be involved, plus what you'd have to sell it for would probably scare off most folks. To have a bat replica without a Futura replica wheel and hub is like an engagement ring missing the center diamond to me, but I don't hold it against any replica that doesn't have it, unique items are expensive and hard to make! Now get the rest of the paint on your car and take it for a spin!!

Single stage is cool for a "correct" look for the jambs etc. 2 stage urethane will make the laser-straight fiberglass GLEAM nicely when done. You've come a looooooooooooooooooooooong way and now you're in the home stretch. Your phenomenal detail has me wanting to improve on mine some day! Great Job Sir!
