Frank's UK Batmobile build. |
Lead | |
|
Thank you for your replies, we have a long way to go with other commitments and we are prepping up to move, however I will do my best to update when I can. I have sent some pictures of the donor Lincoln we are now stripping down in our workshop. The present (expensive!I paid too much!don,t ask) molds were damaged in transit somewhere down the line and repairs have almost been completed. I will alter and change any part of the molds as information comes along to strive for perfection like the rest of you, which will take time as we are in our infancy on this so please pull our first B/mobile to pieces so we can improve next time around.I have found Doug,Mark and Don to be truly friendly and helpful folk and all the comments on the forum interesting. Humbly, Frank.

How difficult is it to find a decent old Lincoln over there? And is is costly when you do find one?
I am amazed you have a lift in that garage, looks like there isn't even room to walk around the car! Keep posting pics as you go, plenty of answers can be found here for your questions! |

Really COOL! Good luck with your build I can't wait to see more. What Part of the UK are you in? I have some friends over there. They are in a group called "The Diehards" we do Victorian British Military living history impressions.

Hello,
Lincolns seam thin on the ground here in my experiece though I have been told otherwise.None the less there are plenty of US classic and vintage cars over here and very strong followings. I have a RHD 59 Biscayne a 1929 RHD Chevrolet International and a 1990 G20 Starcraft Chevrolet RHD van amongst our collection of vehicles.RHD is a big NO NO over here on American cars, woops. Yes we are out of space! can just get round the four poster! Apart from vehicle restoration and welding over the years we run a small Vintage and Classic wedding car business. None of your streches, though they are over here too in their droves! We are presently in Farnborough, Hampshire next to Aldershot home of the British Army.I love US cars and am also going through the process of reproducing a J series Duesenberg. Frank. |

I'm excited for your Euro build! Please keep us posted.
There's nothing like a garage work-in-progress shot to keep the mouths watering at this board. Good luck to you. |

And your molds came from where? From another English Bat-build? Scott

Thank you for all your comments. Martin has told me he originally purchased from Don via e-bay and when Don told me what Martin paid I was shocked! however.. I would appreciate it if anyone has the e-bay details on that sale back in 2005.As Don said to me, Hi Don, they were splash molds so the first molding will be interesting. In advance sorry if I do not reply to you all quickly at times I can not stay in front of the computer too much at present, a lot to sort out. The Lincoln we purchased seems comparable to your prices less the shipping. I paid £1030.00 say $2000.00 plus. 460 CU running well, stainless exhaust very sound. I have a very upset group over here because I am stripping it down. Frank.

I don't have ebay details but I had noted in my own personal records that Don had posted on Justin's site around 1-2-2005 he was selling his 2nd set of molds for $2500 and they needed work.
Again just what I had written down myself at the time, if that helps any? |

Thank's for that. We paid way way more than that so I wonder which set they are? What is so upsetting is that we have not received any build video despite Martins promise and a few other bits in the deal. We will build anyway. So Martin where are the other bits as advertised ?

Re: UK Batmobile build. | ||

Just another thought. The molds had a coating of Black gell coat that was sprayed on in many places that we are stripping off. Maybe someone had a go at it and gave up? Well it's midnight here so bye for now.

What a nightmare that was...the ebay sale that is.
after getting the molds for less than 2k Martin took about 2 years to pay me...oh well...you win some you lose some. I'll be interested to see your take on my Currie car Frank and if and how you may modify it. ( I do have your wheel bats...I need your address to send.) |

Thank's Don, as you know I have sent our details to you yesterday.I am eager to see how the moulding turns out!All I can do here is compare with original pictures, wish my Grandmother and family stayed in the US I would have preffered to have been born there!Much more convenient. My Dad and Uncle never bothered to obtain dual citizenship!
In 99 we stayed in Los Angeles for four weeks.I did not go to the Petersens!!! I was more into Aircraft back then. Will go back. Lincoln front end is all off now, I noted there are some impossible bolts to get to at the top of the front wings/fenders where the fenders attach to the front panel so removed as a complete section.Easy strip down though.Love these bolt togeather cars. Now for the body cutting, leaving floor and sills/rocker panels and firewall in place . Pictures soon though this all old hat to you Folk.Bye for now. |

Help! Would someone kindly send details of how I can contact the famous SAM from Brazil I think. I tried recently for the second time to contact him with no success. Has his contact details changed?
Don, Doug,Mark, should I leave the rear inner arches on the body? can you advise what to leave after cutting away the bodywork from the floor pan please? Many thanks, Frank. |
