What is the BEST photo of the 1966 Batmobile? |
Lead | |
|
What is your favourite photo of the 1966 Batmobile? I've been looking more closely at the artwork at the top of this web page and I think that while the
illustration is good, it's not 100% accurate and maybe Eric should post the 'ultimate' pic of the #1 car there instead. So who's got their
favourite shots to offer for possible consideration? I've seen many truly beautiful pics of the Bat that could easily qualify! Which angle is her best? Of
course there are many amazing replicas and great photos of them, but I doubt many would disagree that it should only be pics of the #1 car for consideration...

I've said this before...
|
You don't remake 'Stairway to heaven', you don't remake a classic like casablanca, and you don't try to make changes to someone elses
website. Obviously Eric chose that illustration of the Batmobile for his own reasons. We've all seen nearly all the pics of the Batmobile, and you're
right, there are some real beauty shots out there. But for someone else to come in and start asking the owner of the site to make changes to it, or even worse
for someone else to try and get a poll or petition to make changes is just flat rude! Did you consider that maybe that illustration was done by Eric? And that
he may be very proud of it? Here's a thought. For everyone who doesn't like the site...make your own.

I'm not sure if you're talking about the artwork above by Ron or the artwork on www.1966batmobile.com by
Mainer. I am totally open in changing the one above...honestly I am bored with it.
So I think it is a good idea. Post your ideas and I will change it!! By the way, some of my favorite (vintage) pics involve people (or kids) with the car. Like the one below. Of course that is not something I would post on
the top of my board.

Being bored with it makes a difference.

In that case i'd have to side with you on the bottom pic. That's a beautiful 3/4 shot.

Whew! Thanks Eric | ||

Gee I didn't mean to be rude and I intended no offense. I'm so glad Eric agrees and is open to my suggestion. Yes it's Ron's artwork above that
I was referring to. I love this site and check in almost daily. RESPECT!!

much improved | ||

but flopping the pic puts robins detecta-scope in the drivers seat...maybe a Zap Pow in the background might give it a sixties appeal just some thoughts

Hey Eric I was just looking a bit closer at the pic above with the kids in it. When was this taken? The Bat-turn lever is missing, and there's no white
outline on the door bat... ALSO: I'm happy with flopped because that makes her RIGHT HAND DRIVE!!

Of course I should have realised this was after the third season changes with the 'stubby' bat-turn lever moved back and the roll bar over the rear
canopy.
Any idea where this was that the #1 was left unattended behind a gas station?? (edit) Looks like some paint chips along the pinstripes... does the date of the photo suggest this was after filming had wrapped on season three at this time?

Eric sent out | ||
|
to Mike T to flop the pic and use the pow from the corgi ad I had sent you previously replacing the corgi car drawing with the real car which is in the same
angle should have the results in a few days.

Date of Kids Photo? | ||

Didn't we/you determine that the photo was in March/April 1968, and that it was indeed after the series was canceled? As I recall, we thought it very
interesting that the car was still intact after the show was over, as many had suspected that Fox/Greenway had removed the beacon cage, antennae/antlers, etc.
at the end of the series.
