I arrived on Wed., early since Don C., his friend Greg and I decided to take in some sight seeing before the main event.
As Mark mentioned, on Friday night, it was GREAT to put a name to the many screen names who have contributed greatly to "all things Bat" on THIS message board in the 7 or so years I've been hanging out here. I can tell you every single individual I met had a great admiration for the car since a young age each with a very interesting & unique tale to tell about their Batmobile experience(s) over the years. Everyone introduced themselves, shared a quip about their Bat tales, and all attended every event with what seemed like great admiration for the opportunity to see the Master, the #1, and one phenomenal Tom Woodruff replica.
Scott Sebring was there (no costume) and was able to share his local insight of the areas we were visting, and document it ALL for us and had a great sense of humor to keep the smiles aplenty. Who know the coolest guy with a Bat costume knew so much about other replicas?
We had all agreed from the start that short of Tom Woodruff's car, there would be no replica discussions----------mostly because GB, Bill, Korky and the #1 were the REAL stars of the day.
That said, GB acknowleged the other replicas out there, but said he "really didn't agree" that the other replicas were in existence outside of the licensing agreements that he has worked hard to comply with for his #1 Batmobile. On that note, he certainly he knew there are a bunch of replica owners out there, but he said on the record, he "really didn't have a problem with a private car collector owning one". The point of course is that his #1 ownership is uniquely his likely source of income, so those who might try to use their bats for profit are frowned upon.
Probably THE coolest thing I saw personally, was when Brett Barris was in the back office pulling up vintage pics on his computer of the Futura being dissected and masked off for body mods that we have not yet seen! I hope my request and possibly a follow-up by Eric might allow the ones I didn't yet see enjoy the light of day here at some point?

As for all those leftover Futura parts? They were mostly pitched in the garbage to get them out of the way since no one respected prototypes in the day.

Tom Woodruff is as nice and accomodating as can be. His car is absolutely first rate in every detail.
On the subject of the Bat implements, I did pose the question about whether or not the "bat gadgets" were a request from the studio to be
implemented as part of the buildup, or just something GB put on the car personally? GB said that because the Batman TV show theme was unlike
anything else on TV up to that point, ths fresh TV idea from William Dozier with "Bang" "Pow" "Crack" etc. he wanted the car to be sort of like that so he built as many things as he could imagine out of sheer fantasy for anything that the show might want to use later.

The #1 clearly needs ALOT of love, but for those who were able to see it up close & personal first hand, their expressions were priceless.
