I got to meet 40+ great guys who shared lots in common, but most of all a love & passion for the '66 Batmobile. People came from all over the U.S. and even from Canada. We had many states represented like: AZ, North & South Carolina, Iowa, Indiana, TX, etc, etc.
"Wild Bill" Shrewsberry who drag raced the Batmobile in 1967 at various events around the country was there.
Also, former Customizer and Barris employee Richard "Korky" Korkes was also there. Korky is known for building the Batmobile, Batcycle, Corvette Summer car and the Parisienne just to mention a few. Both of them were VERY happy to meet their fans in-person and share their stories.
Tom Woodruff was there with his replica Batmobile--what a beauty!
A representative from Mattel/Hot Wheels was there.
Oh, and Erik "CHiPS" Estrada was there the whole time too--nice guy.
I will post pics in the next 24 hours and I'm sure others will do the same.
Thanks to all who attended and sorry I didn't have a chance to personally say goodbye to you all.
And last but not least, I wanted to thank the Barris family for opening their shop to all of us and being very accommodating. Also to Bill Shrewsberry, "Korky", Tony W, Mark R, Tom W. (for bringing his car) & Chris D. for coming-up with the idea for this event.
Cheers,
Eric
