Bat symbol on the door???

Wonderful pics.i wish i could have been there! I was wondering if anyone noticed how small the Bat symbol on the door of the #1 is???
Why do you suppose that is??? It's only visible on two pics and really caught my eye. |

To my understanding correct sized bats were brought with the group intended for the #1--------but were not on it by the time we left.

Wow, it sure must have been a GREAT experience. I will look forward to any and all of the photos, videos, and insights any of you can share with the rest of
us.
Thank you also for your comments about my "bat-gadgets" question. I am really interested in trying to track down as much as I can, especially the d-scope. Somewhere else on this board someone thought they might have seen it used in an episode of The Invaders. Hopefully someone will find a copy of the episode. It does seem a little chintzy if Fox pulled parts of off the car after it helped to make them so much money back in the late '60's. I mean how many uses could there have been for used levers, tubes, etc. They would have made nice souvenirs for people higher up in the studio to bring home though. |

Sadly it's common practice...
|
...for studios to re-use, cannibalise and repaint prop items for use in other shows. Many of the Batcave items were seen on shows like Star Trek, Land of the
Giants and Lost in Space. The Neosaurus costume is a good example of this. But if they did add gadgets to the Batmobile (and i'm certain they did) they
would have been well within thier rights to keep them after the run of the series. Besides, noone ever expected the car to become the icon it has.

Looking at those Futura conversion pics Chris posted, it would appear a completely different rear fin may have been planned for the car based on the tape
outline they have in 2 of the pics....I wonder if that was a possibly fin layout concept? If so, I'm glad they left the fins alone!

I didn't mind too much not getting to sit in the car. At least I got it to pose with me!
It was an amazing weekend. With the Friday night meet-up, the Bronson Cave, Bob's Big Boy... and the big payoff Barris' shop. Thanks again to everyone who made this happen... the organizers, George Barris and his family/staff, and all of the attendees! Imagine if this was a once a year event.... this could get really big. --chuck |

Hey guys,
It was an absolute blast meeting so many great folks over the weekend. You guys really made this Batmobile novice feel at home. I loved watching guys like Tom Woodruff and Nate comparing notes with Mark Racop and Don C. Big thanks to Eric and Mark for putting this all together and organizing a workable schedule to fit a lot of stuff in. Of course a huge thanks to George, Bill, Corky, Joji, Brett and the ever smiling Tony at Barris Kustom. They always rock. Anyway, a group of us on Saturday decided to combine our pictures together on my laptop so I could make them accessible for those interested. Due to the sheer amount of pictures, I decided to simply wrap each collection as a zip file. Granted, it's a grab bag of pictures that one may want or could care less. But where else are you going to find this many full res pictures on the web from this event? If anybody else wants to share their collection of pictures from the weekend, e-mail me and I'll work with you on getting them posted to my site. Here's the link: http://www.batfriend.com/barris_09 Thanks everybody, Scott Sebring
