And did you notice!?!?? NO BATRAY STRIPES on the tin picture.

This may bode VERY well for those of us who have pined for a good 1/25th scale Batmobile in plastic kit form .

Wasn't the Aurora model 1/32 and more like the Animated Intro than the actual car? Perhaps Polar Lights will increase the scale to 1/25.

I'm relatively sure it'd be a reissue of the original Aurora Batmobile kit. Round 2 is also putting out the Munster Koach and Dragula in a metal tin in December, which is a reissue of the AMT cars. They've already done the classic AMT - USS Enterprise in a tin. (Obviously the tins did well for them.) Tom Lowe also previously reissued the Green Hornet's Black Beauty when he ran Polar Lights. (Plus a host of other Aurora/AMT kits.)

But mr. Lowe, if you'll remember, was at one time looking into a 1/25th scale kit of the car. Besides...the Batboat kit was originaly 1/32nd as well.

What I'M saying tho...is that Mr. Lowe did at one time attempt to liscence the car for 1/64th diecast as well as a 1/24th scale model. These plans were scrapped when the deal fell through and all we got was the 1/64th Futura and a couple crappy 1/24th scale kits.

If Mr. Lowe has finally acquired license for the Aurora bat...then a nice 1/25th or 24th scale version can't be far behind. I have one of the test shots that was made when they originally tested the molds almost ten years ago.

If there is no 1/24 or 1/25 pattern made yet, or tooling, I doubt we will see one coming from them. It's really expensive to make a model kit from scratch (especially in injection molded plastic). I hope I'm wrong though.

Just when I though I might actually launch my first thread with some great news Ah well!

Yes the kits will be available in the UK, with the usual shocking UK pricing - where the $ sign is just swapped for the £ sign but with no decrease in the actual number!!!

I wonder what the figures will be like, if they will be any good. I have the polar lights Cycle and Boat in my personal collection so this will be a great addition to them.

I already have mine on order. I hope one day to have an original Aurora kit, but in the interim, these will do just fine.

It is the things that I do that define me.....

I knew PL (Mr. Lowe) had the Aurora already molded. That's the white test shots that have floated around on ebay for years. I NEVER heard about him looking for a 1/25 version of the car. The boat was enlarged to 1/25 but remember the boat was much more of an accurate model than the batmobile was. If they just pant-up the 1/32 car kit into a larger kit, it will be pretty disappointing with all its mistakes just bigger.

I'm excited just to get a cheap re-release of the aurora version to build and display. But I'm not holding out for a super-accurate 1/25. That would rock though. We're looking into carrying these by the way.

Good observation, it just occured to me, do you think that PL just didn't bother to source actual photos of the car and just based it on a HotWheels 1:18 Elite? Look at the beacon and the antena on the hood.

The car on the tin is a photo of the 1/18th Mattell. It's horizontal aspect has been altered and makes the beacon look narrower (as well as the whole image). But it's definitely the Hot Wheels unit. This begs the question...Is Thomas Lowe now working with or for Mattell?

One thing I can't believe is that Mattell would allow usage of thier image in this way without compensation. So they've got a finger in that pie somewhere! NOW...with that said...why would Mr. Lowe pay a rival company for the use of THIER image when there are literally millions of other images available? Maybe Mattel's deal allows for an exclusive with rights to sub-lease?

I guess it just goes to show...You can lead a horse to water, but you gotta be strong and determined if you're gonna drown 'im!

Could that tin box photo be a prototype mock-up tin box based on what's available, rather than the final production version? There's a lot of time between now and then. Were they at toy fair this year? Anyone know?

First let me say that this thread is kind of buried where it is.
I was wondering what color this kit is molded in and generally how hard it is to build. The gluing is easy, but I am not one to be able to paint figures & stripes etc. Fat fingers dontcha know.
