you and me both Ernie....since this unit will be prepainted I am betting I will ACTUALLY BUILD IT unlike my Batboat and 3 of 4 Futura models I have had for
years!
As much as I loved building models over the years, at this point I am all for die cast and prepainted kits! (getting too old to attempt the red stripes!) |

The reality for me is...I cannot wait to buy all these and store them on a shelf in a closet or in a box and not build any.

The reality for me is...I cannot wait to buy MULTIPLE PIECES of ALL of these and store THE SPARES on a
shelf in a closet or in a box AND BUILD THE OTHERS. Not counting any additional copies for the coolest ones.
As I said, I'm going to be so broke...

Who are we saving these for? One of two things will happen - they will either get reissued, or people will lose interest as our generation passes into
history. Buy em, Build em, Display em, Enjoy em. These are not a retirement plan.

know it gives me pleasure knowing that they are in my closet. Doctor are you there????????

I know the feeling myself. Just having these things that I love, sitting around my basement, attic, etc. makes me feel good, even if I never get them built.
It's also a nice feeling knowing that I have such a huge inventory of things to choose from as my next build! It's a good thing I have pretty much run
out of money, because I definitely have run out of space!

Ha Ha, we're all nuts. I have a room 20' x 14' filled floor to ceiling with MIB toys and comics that make me feel good, but REALLY irritates my
wife. Maybe that's why it makes me feel good.

I too am hoping against hope...

...that the 1/25th isn't just a pantograph of the 1/32nd. I know mr Lowe has been trying to pull this together for a decade now! Unfortunately if it IS a
new tool, I have to consider Polar Lights track record as far as new tools. It isn't very good. However, I think the powers that be (Mr. Lowe) probably
won't cheat us on this one. It may not have the low parts count of the Mystery machine or Jetson's car. Hopefully it will have a detailed parts count
like thier historical nascar kits (crappy though they were).
I won't get too excited until I see them on the shelf tho. Remember he Danbury Bat? "Mankind has yet to evolve but a single inch from the slime that spawned him" |

Sure we are all a little Batty....but remember that we had very limited "Bat merchandise" in the late 60's and early 70's to buy, and even
then most of us we so young we were at the mercy of our parents as to weather or not we could get any of it. So even in the heyday of Batmobile products it was
a struggle for most of us to obtain anything.
Then we essentially had a 20+ year drought of NOTHING to buy basically. Then ebay finally came along and SLOWLY we could find and buy used vintage bat stuff to replace the ones we played with and our Mom's gave away to the Goodwill. In a nutshell, it doesn't surprise me at all that for many of us it just feels good to buy the new stuff, even if we just leave it on a shelf in the long run. I spent my whole life looking for vintage Batmobiles, then garage kits, then hoping SOME company would release some new stuff....now we have a virtual buffet of Batmobile products, so much so that many of us are out of space, out of money, or out of patience on the part of our understanding wives.....I guess as long as somebody keeps making the stuff, I'll consider buying it!! |

Polar Lights 1/25 Batmobile questions answered by CultTV Man...FYI
|
"Polar Lights' new Batmobile is planned to be more accurate than the Mattel diecast. Plans are not finalized yet, so details such as what kind of
engine have to be worked out. It will not be a scaled up version of the Aurora car."
Looks like a good sign! tim meyer |

Would be hard to beat body accuracy of the Mattel car, but LOTS of other details could well be improved!

It is a new tool. Not an enlarged 1:32. |

I'm no lawyer but how is this possible? I thought Mattel/HW had "the license" - does that not preclude other companies from bringing out 1966
Barris Batmobiles? I could understand if it was a reissue it could be sidestepped, but a new kit? Please explain...
(I'm not complaining, I plan to pick one up too! Yippee!)

I could be wrong, but I'm not sure Mattel ever had an exclusive on obtaining a license to make 66 batmobile stuff. They were just the first in a
long time to be able to get it worked out, but DC Direct also put out the ceramic light-up version a while back. I don't think Mattel had anything to do
with that version. I also don't know if Mattel has any connection with PL/Round 2. If not, I'd imagine that other companies can benefit from
Mattel's legwork in getting past all the previous obstacles to getting a license.

Mattel would hold a master licence, but it would not preclude other manufacturers from producing the Barris Batmobile in other mediums,i.e: plastic
kits,pre-painted resin statues under a sub licence.Mattel and Round 2 are not connected.
