So why is it that none of our builders own their OWN Batmobiles?? (noted in the article above that Doug still doesn't have one of his own)
I mean, I don't recall Racop, Hines, Currie or even "that other guy" in C.A. ever owning a "personal 66 replica" for themselves with the exception maybe of Racop's 74 Monte Carlo original. Did Butts even keep one for himself as "his car" or just drive each build until he sold it? Just kind of struck me that none of the builders ever seem to end up with a car! Maybe they all didn't get into building them to have one, but some did! I'm sure in the beginning you need to work the bugs out, probably don't have any extra cash or time and just need to get the business rolling and customer cars done...but eventually you'd think you would make yourself the "ultimate" replica and then also use it as advertising for the business. Any thoughts? Builders? Do you even WANT a car of your own anymore after building them?? |

Mine is more that half done, went for a ride around the block last week!! I work 7 days a week and just don't seem to get much time to work on my own
stuff. I'm sure that's most of the problem with everybody else.

Geez ya know, you may have hit the nail on the head....that's exactly why none of MY cars have been finished, I have fully restored, worked on and whatever
else to everybody else's cars, but never have finished any of my personal rides, cripes even the wife's muscle car is nicer than any of mine have been!
Guess I gotta stop helping everyone else all the time!

I'm in the process of finishing my thirteenth car, I have orders for five more, I'm building a Batboat, finishing two movies, remodeling two buildings,
and I like to spend a whole 30 minutes each evening with my lovely and patient wife Jill. Maybe next year I can consider building a
second Bat for myself, but right now, one seems to be enough, LOL!
Back to topic: nice article; thanks for posting it, Nate.

Know the owner...... | ||

This is a shop I do business with in Dayton.
Owner told me 2 are for customers, one is for him. He didn't know of the Batboard so I turned him onto our site. Hopefully he'll chime in. As you might expect, being in Ohio and a claim rep', I had about 10 faxes sent to me to "let me know". LoL It's like some people are thinking of me so they pass along "all things Bat-related", and others are seemingly Defensive for me like "Chris, did you kow this guy's doing this?" lol I'm sure our paths will cross so I'll get pics at some point. This just adds to the Batmobile Traffic Jam expected in Ohio. Steve, you're not along with MUCH BATS! Thanks Doug---------THANKS ALOT!! (kidding) |
