Finally I got around to taking pictures of the Magnetic Models Batmobile built for me by Andy Garringer and the Polar Lights prepainted Batmobile.
The garage Batmobile is based on Revell's Lincoln Futura kit. Having seen both for years, I always assumed the fins were parallel giving the car a rectangular shape. But the Polar Light fins angle inward giving the car a triangular shape.
These are two sets of pictures to compare fins. Now we know the Revell was hand sculpted and it turns out the Polar was not based on Mattels laser scan. So who has the most accurate fins?
I find the rectangular shape more pleasing to the eye and it fits in with Frank Lloyd Wrights theory about shape. However the Futura was based on a body of a shark and a shark's body does narrow. On Polar's side they do have the way the light hits the trunk at an angle by the fins just like the real Futura's.
I think the Chinese factory made a mistake on a photo's perspective and angled the fins in. Revell had access to the Futura and I doubt they would have made that blatant a mistake.
